Dark Fate” is really just a rehash of the first movie

Dark Fate” is really just a rehash of the first movie, with exactly the same plot. In the future an evil AI blows up the world and then fights a protracted war against the human survivors, which it loses. At the end of the war, that AI sends a Terminator back in time to prevent the leader of the resistance from ever becoming the leader of the resistance, and the resistance sends somebody back to fight that Terminator. The whole thing is a closed time loop with a predestination paradox — the resistance leader chooses the person who they remember from the past to try to maintain the continuity.

That would be normal and fine if this were a reboot, but it’s not — “Dark Fate” is a sequel, taking place in the continuity established by the first two movies, and it has Sarah Connor in it. So it’s a little bit odd for it to so specifically rehash the first movie.

“Terminator 2: Judgment Day”

The main bit that “Dark Fate” takes from “T2” is that Sarah basically goes through the same relationship arc with the T-800 all over again. She hates him and wants to kill him at the beginning, but then by the end they’re bros. This is a pretty frustrating thing to rehash.

“Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines”

So the bad guy in “Dark Fate” is a Terminator Rev-9 (Gabriel Luna) who has a liquid metal skin over a regular hard metal endoskeleton, which allows it to shapeshift. Back in “Rise of the Machines,” the villainous T-X (Kristanna Loken) also had a liquid metal skin over a hard metal endoskeleton which allowed it to shapeshift. The only difference between episode free gems the two is that the new Rev-9 can separate the skin from its body and act as two units at once.

We’ve actually got a second major item from “T3.” It and “Dark Fate” both include an Arnold Schwarzenegger Terminator who teams up with the good guys after murdering John Connor. In “Dark Fate,” it’s a Terminator who killed John in the ’90s after “T2.” In “T3” the Terminator had killed him in 2032 before being captured by the resistance and sent back in time.

“Terminator Salvation”

In “Dark Fate” we have Grace (Mackenzie Davis), a woman from the human resistance in the future who volunteers to become an “augment” — a human who is implanted with Terminator tech. We have, of course, seen this exact thing before, in “Salvation.” Marcus (Sam Worthington), the main character in that movie, is a human who was turned into a Terminator-like thing by Skynet. Both Grace and Marcus are still the same people they were before, just now with machine parts inside them. Which is to say they aren’t computer people who can be controlled by the bad guys or whatever. John Connor in “Genisys” is a similar situation, but he lost his free will and was all nano parts after so it’s really a different thing.

“Terminator Genisys”

The entire central conceit of “Dark Fate” is more or less lifted directly from “Genisys.” The parallels are so obvious that I was honestly kind of amazed sitting in the theater.

So the best thing about “Genisys” is that it embraces the jumbled continuity of the franchise by running with the idea that every time Skynet sends a Terminator back in time and the human resistance sends somebody back after them it creates an alternate timeline. Skynet would seem to be learning from this endless sequence of time loops, and it rebrands as Genisys and goes online much later than it had in the previous movies.

Fortnite Chapter 2’s map is stocked with landmarks

Fortnite Chapter 2’s map is stocked with landmarks, little unlabeled points of interest that sit in between the bigger ones, and there are a lot to take in. The previous map had a lot of similar things, but landmarks now have official names, and they’re discoverable as discrete places when you’re unlocking the map. They also form the basis of a lot of these location-based challenges we’re seeing here in the first season, and we’re going to visit 3 for our Week 4 challenges, “dockyard deals”. Let’s dig in: to start with, here’s a map, guide and location for where to find the boat launch.

We’re going to want to look for some water to find a boat launch, right? Well, no. This is Fortnite v buck generator, things are weird, and the boat is going to be launched in much more dramatic fashion than just being pushed out into the water. You’re looking for a sort of hill/ridge in the south of the island by Misty Meadows. Here’s where you’re dropping:

That will be your boat launch. It’s really only handy if your boat happens to travel on land as well as water, which as luck would have it, it does. There’s a lot of topography in this area, and it’s easy to get lost. Just remember that this is what you’re looking for:

All you need to do to complete this portion of the challenge is show up, so just hop on over and make your progress. If you’re looking to gear up before getting out and fighting, your best bet is probably Misty Meadows itself, though there are some smaller areas with chests and such around here if you’re wary of encountering whatever is happening over there.

There are a ton of smaller secrets to be found on this map, and we’re still getting our heads around it, really. It’s been pleasant here in the first month of Chapter 2: it used to be when I saw location challenges on the old map, I’d know right off the top of my head where something was. Now I have to look, even when things are named.

One of those changes this week was an alteration to the amount of XP gains players are getting from the game

Fortnite is doing an annoying new thing where they don’t issue patch notes, which normally list changes to the game every week or so and talk about why those decisions were made. That seems utterly baffling for a game like this, as high profile as this, so I hope it’s not a permanent trend.

One of those changes this week was an alteration to the amount of XP gains players are getting from the game. Namely, it seemed like it was going to be close to physically impossible to hit rank 100 by the end of the season without playing 1000+ games, but now Epic has stepped in and changed some values to make it easier.

Namely, what fans have gathered is that the amount of XP gained from both punch cards and challenges has been changed.

Punch Cards: Used to give 24,000 XP per day, now give 96,000

Challenges: Used to give 140,000 XP per week, now give 540,000 (up from 14,000 to 54,000 per challenge)

What that means in practice is that the 8 million or so XP you need to get by season’s end is a lot easier to obtain fortnite v buck generator. Without the actual XP from matches themselves, you can get 60 tiers from punch cards and ~45 tiers from challenges, which will take you past 100 by themselves. Granted, that’s a punch card a day, but it’s better than the 15-16 matches required per day that the non-buffed XP system required before this change.

Keep in mind that these new changes are not for challenges that have alrea

Players are still discovering all the changes in Fortnite’s chapter 2

Players are still discovering all the changes in Fortnite’s chapter 2, which means of course they’re finding exploits. A newly discovered one lets you use the shield-granting waters of Slurpy Swamp to avoid taking storm damage.

As reported by Dexerto, the trick works like this: go to Slurpy Swamp, a new area of the map that features glowing blue water. As long as you’re standing in the water, you’ll regenerate shield. So, as you stand in the water, build a wall. Keep moving against the wall; then, as the storm closes in, your health will regenerate, making you immune to the storm damage. Dexerto included several Twitter clips showing the trick in action, including ones where players won the game by doing this.

I tried the trick on my Switch this morning and was successful. I built four walls and a roof in the water and, as the storm closed in, I jumped against the walls. My health switched between 100 and 99 endlessly. When I destroyed v buck generator the roof and jumped out of the water, I took a big health hit from the late-game storm. This seemed to have broken the trick for me; while my lower health would briefly tick back up, it mostly kept going down, and I eventually died. So, if you want to try it out for yourself, the key seems to be to…not randomly decide to stop doing it.

I wouldn’t recommend this as a strategy if you want the true satisfaction of a Victory Royale, and also because Epic will almost certainly patch it out.

fortnite Chapter 2 is underway, and its first set of challenges has arrived.

fortnite Chapter 2 is underway, and its first set of challenges has arrived. Dubbed the New World Challenges, these tasks are required to unlock a special skin towards the end of Season 1. While other letters will be available in subsequent weeks, this guide details the location of the hidden F in the New World Loading Screen.

Fortnite New World Challenges

Before getting to the location of the hidden F itself, let’s first recap all the New World Challenges for Week 1. As players get accustomed to the Chapter 2 map, most of these challenges are pretty straightforward to complete.

  • Discover Named Locations (10)
  • Eliminations at Lazy Lake or Misty Meadows (three)
  • Discover Landmarks (10)
  • Ride a Motorboat in different matches (three)
  • Deal damage with Assault Rifles to opponents (500)
  • Search chests at Sweaty Sands or Retail Row (seven)
  • Eliminations in different matches v buck generator (five)
  • Catch a weapon using a Fishing Rod
  • Deal damage with SMGs, Shotguns, and Pistols in a single match (three)
  • Carry a Knocked player 10m (10)
  • Search hidden ‘F’ found in the New World Loading Screen

This guide deals with the very last objective on this list, as it’s clearly the most obtuse one of all. Fortnite fans have collected plenty of hidden letters in various modes over the past few years, but this hidden F is the latest member of the bunch. It’s time to get searching.

Fortnite Search Hidden F in the New World Location

In order to find the hidden F you must first unlock the New World Loading Screen seen below. It’s earned by completing any eight of the basic tasks listed above. Once you’ve done that, the New World Loading Screen will be accessible and viewable from your in-game Locker.

‘Fortnite’ New World Challenges are live, and this is the Loading Screen. It’s time to find the location of the hidden F. ‘Fortnite’ is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC and mobile.EPIC GAMES

The key to this particular Loading Screen is the city off to the right called Lazy Lake. If you look close enough, there’s something floating to the right of that location. That’s where we need to land to collect the hidden F.

friction to the experience is that Epic Games has changed the way challenges work

One big change, according to Epic Games, was the promise of having “more fun, less grind.” To that end, the battle pass progression system was tweaked to try and give players more ways to level up, such as opening chests, and farming materials.

It’s a nice idea in theory — who wants to spend ages making small incremental progress to unlock something new? — but it’s not quite working out that way, according to fans who have now spent the better part of a week with the new system.

On social media, Fortnite aficionados are complaining about how long it’s taking to make progress in the battle pass. Some are even sharing graphics that break down why chapter 2 is shaping up to be a huge grind so far:

This will explain how hard it will be to reach level 100.

View image on Twitter

Using this example, and given that a Fornite v buck generator season usually lasts 10 weeks, you’d need to play approximately 15-16 matches every day to be able to hit level 100 before the end of the term. Of course, you could always purchase tiers and bypass the grind … but players don’t like feeling as if they’re being forced to do so.

The result? People are complaining. The Fortnite Twitter account, which at one point said the words “less grind,” has a good number of replies where people dispute the allegation.

“I play a considerable amount farming, getting high kills etc all for the XP but I’m honestly not seeing the reward,” one Fortnite player said on Twitter.

“The amount of XP you have to gain to reach the next level seems like it’s increased x10,” another Fortnite devotee said.

Part of what’s adding friction to the experience is that Epic Games has changed the way challenges work. Where before, a slate of challenges would unlock every week, now there’s only a set amount at the start — three, in fact. Players can’t do the full batch of new challenges until they clear the initial existing ones.

Fortnite Chapter 2 is the addition of achievements.

in Fortnite Chapter 2 is the addition of achievements. There are a total of 52 achievements to unlock, and some of them are a bit more obvious than others.

For instance, the Double Trouble achievement is unlocked by winning 10 Duos matches during Season 1.

However, the “I’m Trash” achievement is unlocked by . . . well, it says “Just the worst” so I’m not really sure. Though I suppose I have some matches that almost certainly qualify . . . .

Some of these are super easy like “In the Zone” which only requires you to land in the starting safe zone. Others are more difficult, like Squad Goals which requires you to win 100 Squads matches during v buck generator Season 1, or even something like Rise & Grind which you’ll only get if you hit level 250 this season.

Where To Visit Durr Burger Head, Dinosaur, And Stone Head Statue

the Durr Burger Head is located on a hill just east of Pleasant Park. The dinosaur can be found on the opposite end of the island; you’ll spot it to the south of Paradise Palms. Finally, the Stone Head can be found near the frozen lake to the north of Polar Peak. It resembles a Moai statue (with a rocking chair inexplicably on top), so it should be easy enough to spot. Once you visit all three, you’ll complete the challenge and earn 10 Battle Stars for your troubles.

We’ve marked each monument’s location on the map above to help you find them easily. You can also watch where we go to complete the challenge in the video at the top of this guide. For more Season X coverage, be sure to check out our Fortnite Season X hub, which we’ll continue to update as the season progresses.

Challenges are also structured much differently than before. In lieu of the standard weekly challenges, Epic v buck generator is grouping this season’s challenges together under different themes. These otherwise work much the same way as before. Each challenge you complete will score you Battle Stars, which will help level your Season X Battle Pass up and unlock this season’s new skins and other rewards.
